Adzuki Bean Burger Recipe


If you are looking for a homemade, whole food, plant based, tasty burger patty look no further. This is a plant based burger patty using adzuki beans that is SO GOOD.

It is plant based, vegan, really easy to make, quick, a cook once eat multiple time recipe that is sure to please. It requires minimal ingredients and is very filling.

Adzuki Bean Burger Patties

Makes approx. 5 patties Prep time: 15 – 30 minutes

3 /4 cup dried Adzuki Beans ( or 1.5 – 2 cans adzuki beans )

1/4 red onion, diced

3 celery stalks, diced

2 tsp cumin

1/ 2 tsp salt

1/2 – 3/4 cups Almond four

1/2 – 3/4 cups Brown rice flour

Directions:

  • if you’re using dried beans – soak them in water overnight first.
  • for dried beans – drain and rinse your beans than cook either on the stove or in a pressure cooker until soft. For canned beans – drain and rinse your beans.
  • Dice the red onion and celery and place in a bowl. Add your cooked beans to the bowl as well.
  • Add cumin and salt.
  • In a food processor – add your onion, celery, beans, and seasonings.
  • Add 1/4 cup each of almond flour and brown rice flour. Process until combined.
  • Keep adding 1/4 cup of each flour until you reach a consistency that is slightly sticky, yet stays together. Mine took just over 1/2 cup each flour.
  • Once it is combined – scoop out onto a cutting board or counter top. Grab a cookie sheet with either parchment paper or a silpat.
  • Begin to grab balls of dough and shape them into patties. Use a little water or extra brown rice four as needed.
  • Once your patties are formed – they will store in the fridge for 1 week – or the freezer for 2 months.
  • Cook them on the stove with a little coconut or avocado oil and make them into burgers with items like buns, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and ketchup.
